Who We Are
Bazaar of the Bizarre

....and the not-so-bizarre. Here's the place to pick up some crafty gifts and Dance as Ever souvenirs (t-shirts and concert videos). Unlike our auction, there's no need to place a competitive bid: all of these items are available for a fixed price.
To celebrate our ninth season and entice you to our concerts, we have an array of smaller items that will be available only at the concert. Many of them make perfect stocking stuffers.
One of our most generous and creative supporters is Hawaii-based artist, Arnold Van Fossen. Arnold has provided us with a treasure trove of "Hawaiian shirt" pins, necklaces, notecards and fans.
- The pins are perfect miniature reproductions of Hawaiian shirts, done in a wide range of patterns and colors. Guaranteed to brighten any lapel, each pin is about 3 inches tall and 2 inches wide.
- The necklaces feature turtles which are carved from bone, then painted and varnished. The turtle medallion is about 11/2 inches long and the necklace itself is adjustable in length.
- The generous-sized notecards have a variety of themes: a number have celebrities -- both past and present -- while others feature the same mini Hawaiian shirts as the pins.
- Finally, Arnold has created a number of fans to commemorate some of the ballets in our repertory. Several feature portraits of Peter Boal in the ballets created for him: Midare and A Shropshire Lad
We also have a number of lacy washcloths contributed by Mary LoSardo, using a variation of a design by Robert Powell.
The baby soft cloths shown above are cotton with hint of nylon mesh providing the pastel color. Other cloths are done in 100% cotton yarns, both variegated and solid colors. For a special gift, pair with one of Mary Beth Gower's soaps.
Norma Rossi has donated a selection of handmade notecards.
In addition to ones that celebrate the Christmas season, Norma has created some special ballet-oriented ones in honor of Dance as Ever.
As new inventory continues to arrive, we offering a special deal on items currently in stock. The following items are available at forty to fifty per cent off. Take a peak at what we have left, write us the check and it's yours.
Just email us
beforehand so we know you're purchasing it and to expect the check. If you're
nearby and can pick it up, or we're meeting for some reason anyway, you can save
us a trip to UPS and you $5 per item! Remember, all of the proceeds from your bazaar purchases help make the Dance as Ever concert possible.
Hats, Hats, Hats!
Lisa Diethelm is a woman of many hats. We're selling most of them. This
lovely woman knit her fingers raw to help us out. The least you can do is buy
her simply wonderful hats and scarves. Unless otherwise noted, these will all
fit an average adult head. We've sold most of them already. Last year, the hats were priced at $30. Now, we offer the remaining hats
on sale for $20 each (or $15 without shipping or delivery).
- Fur Out is a cap with
mottled gray acrylic fur brim, crown in wool of various shades of maroon and
- Caroline Laudig has given us two Moebius
scarves. The Moebius -- a band having only one surface and one edge --was transposed to knitting by the grandmother of modern knitting, Elizabeth
Zimmermann. Caroline's scarves have variations in width to solve two problems she had with the
original version. The wider and narrower areas mean the scarf is comfortable
around the neck, but wide enough to function as a headcovering. We have one in
variegated blue variegated; the yarn is a handpainted wool/alpaca blend. The
other multicolor one is made with either 100% wool or a wool/mohair blend.
(Alas, how often we forget exactly what is in our stashes!)
Originally $45, each scarf is now $25, (or $20 without shipping and delivery).
Brighten up any day of the week with this simple
mohair scarf, knitted in stockinette stitch with a garter stitch border by Danny Ouellette. Made from one strand of variegated mohair (King Cole Luxury Mohair, Florence 78% mohair, 13% wool, and 9% nylon) combined with one strand of a cotton/rayon yarn (Brilla by Filatura di Crosa/Adhoc, 42% Cotton, 58% Viscose), the scarf is 7.5" x 35". Colors include lavender, pink, fuchsia, and pale blue. Care: Dry cleaning is your best bet for this scarf, or very careful hand washing in cool water, dry flat on a towel. Originally $50, price is now $25.00, (or $20.00 without postage).
Wraps and Sweaters
In addition to the selection of hats, we also have a bright yellow crocheted
shawl from Carol Hirshman. It's crocheted in a mesh pattern with a looped crocheted
edging that's neater than fringe. Also all wool. The shawl's dimensions
are 4 feet deep, with a 6 1/2 foot maximum width. Originally $50, now
$25 (or $20 without shipping or delivery).
Mary LoSardo has donated an authentic Shetland lace cardigan. It is knit in 100% wool in a rippled stripe, using all natural shades of Shetland wool (gray, cream, beige, "moorit" brown). The buttonless sweater was purchased in Lerwick and will fit a woman's size petite/small (34 inch bust). Originally $65, now $35 (or $30 without shipping or delivery).
